Lady Luck

Hey there.

This is some more artwork that I've done fairly recently. Thought it might be fun to run you through the process...

Here is the original sketch for a Poker/Pinup themed illustration...Which I scanned in afterwards, in order to make the linework drawing easy.

Here is the linework, which I did in Illustrator...

Lastly, I added more linework and color in photoshop/painter/illustator to finish off the whole thing.

100 Years' War

Last night I turned my focus to the long ongoing chess game between me and my co-worker. Much like the affor mentioned English/France conflict, this game that has also lasted nearly a century.

In the spring of our friendship, my co-worker and I started a contest. A different thing altogether. It was not a struggle of strength and speed, but of cunning and meddle. And most of all it turned into a measure of endurance.

This last January marked the two year mark on this single chess game. I know what you may be thinking, "If these idiots can't finish a chess game in an hour, then they don't know a Bishop from a Pope."

In truth, we have taken our sweet time with this, but the process requires some measure of duration, as well. We make a move and email the coordinates to the other player. To which he moves his board pieces to mirror the coordinates, before he thinks about his move, makes it, and emails back to restart the cycle. It takes about a day to make a move with this process.

I have whittled down my co-workers piece count, and we have definitely entered the end game, but we have a good bit to go. The problem being that although, I am up in pieces, my opponent has position.

I think that we may be able to get an outcome within this year...

...somethings just take more time than we think they will.

Smoking dog...

So, I have been working on a funny odor eliminator product (long enough of a descriptor?), and I thought it would be fun to show the silliness that my employers are letting me get away with... This is the original sketch that I came up with...

This is where I am so far...

Got a couple o' more hours to go, but it's a good start.

Coastal Tour...

Here are the some of the pictures from my coastal tour. We only traveled about 200miles, from San Louis Obispo to Ventura, but there were some hard miles packed in there. We carried all of our food, camping equipment and clothing on our bikes, which made the climbs along that stretch just brutal at times with the extra weight. A group of three of us left Phoenix by truck to head out to Ventura - Brian, Tony and I. So, I'll try to keep this brief, and let the photos do some of the talking.

This is the starting off
point in the trip. After which,
halfway to the train, Tony
realized that he had forgotten
some thing or another.

We almost missed our train.
If we hadn't made a mad
sprint to the station, 10 miles
away, we would be leaving
a day later. No joke, we crossed
the flashing, closing tracks
to get onto our own train.

Keeping Vampire Hours...

Stayed up late and watched the Suns game last night, which went into double overtime...SUNS WIN!!!

Need to start biking, I have been slackin'. I think it would be great to do another trip soon. We had such a great time on our last tour down the California Coastal Hwy., and Lord knows, I crave distractions. My buddy Tony and I have been talking about doing a two-day mountain bike ride from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon, also.

That seems like it would be the coolest trip. Apparently, most of the trail is an old stagecoach route from the old west. How cool would that be?! We would have to go in the summer anyway, because that area is just too cold any other season. So, maybe that's what I'll work towards this summer.

I think I should probably post some of those California Tour pictures, next time.

Keeping you updated...

I have realized as of late, that I am a failure at corresponding with friends and family...

...so, this is my new plan to keep everyone that cares to know...in the know.
